What is the purpose of conditioning training?

The main objective of conditioning training is to improve long-term endurance. Much of conditioning training incorporates aerobic-based exercises. In addition to improving endurance, conditioning training can improve your overall health, level of flexibility, and mobility. It is also perfect for improving coordination and your overall strength. Conditioning training is a perfect option for those who participate in Olympic competitions, running marathons, or for those who simply want to improve their endurance during workouts. Some conditioning exercises include burpees, squat jumps, mountain climbers, lateral lunges, and many more.

Is conditioning the same as cardio?

Though they share many similarities, conditioning and cardio training share a couple of differences. While cardio solely focuses on increasing the heart rate, conditioning focuses on cardiovascular functioning and full-body conditioning. Cardio training usually also includes fairly easy, repetitive, and continuous movements and exercises that increase heart rate and heart health overall. Conditioning training incorporates exercises that combine elements of cardio, strength, and aerobic training in short, inconsistent intervals to increase overall stamina.
